Gov. Janet Mills Announces New Incentives for Electric Vehicles

The Chevy Bolt is one of the electric vehicles eligible for a $2,000 rebate thanks to a new Efficiency Maine program

Maine homeowners, businesses, and governments now qualify for rebates from $2,000 - $7,500 for a range of electric vehicles, including the Nissan LEAF (and extended range LEAF Plus), Chevy Bolt, Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Kona and Ioniq Electric, Honda Clarity, BMW i3 electric. Rebates are also available for plug-in hybrids including the plug-in Prius, Chevy Volt, and Chrysler Pacifica van.

Electric vehicles offer a significantly lower total cost of ownership than their gasoline-powered equivalents, and the new state rebate is in addition to up to $7,500 that's available as a federal tax credit. ReVision Energy also offers special deals for ReVision customers such as a current discount for Nissan LEAFs.

Electric vehicles are also far cleaner than burning gasoline - especially if you drive on sunshine from your own solar panels! The state program, funded by settlement money from Volkswagen as part of their emissions scandal, turns the bad results of that scandal into positive results for the planet.
