ReVision Energy recently participated in the Junior Achievement Job Shadow Day, part of a nationwide initiative that enables students to get an up-close look at the different career opportunities available to them when they are ready to enter the workforce.
Job Shadow Day is designed to give students an opportunity to bridge classroom lessons with career exploration. Businesses take an active part in introducing Maine students to the business community and demonstrating how the skills learned in school are put into action.
An 8th grade class from Lyman Moore Middle School in Portland came out to see what day-to-day operations are like at a solar energy company, as well as learning some basics on orienting solar panels based on the sun and figuring out how to size a photovoltaic system.
En estimated 800 Maine students to participated, with numerous businesses other than ReVision Energy involved including: Acadia Environmental Technology, Bangor Courtyard Marriott, Bangor International Airport, Best Buy – Bangor, CIANBRO Corporation- Portland, Community Credit Union, Dead River Company-Brewer, Dead River Company – Brunswick, Dead River Company-Scarborough, Diversified Business Communications, Eastland Park Hotel, FairPoint Communications, Goodwill Industries of Northern New England, Gorham Savings Bank, Greater Portland YMCA, Home Depot-Bangor, Hussey Seating Company, IDEXX Laboratories, Kid’s Crooked House, L.L.
