NH USGBC Green Eggs: 179D Commercial Building Tax Deductions

Cost:$10.00 members, $15.00 non-members
Come to learn if your business can benefit from the 179D tax deduction which can be as high as $1.80 per square foot of a specific building or improvement. The deduction is in the amount of $.60 per SF for each of the specific building systems. Eligible projects must reduce energy consumption by specific prescribed percentages in any of the following areas:
- Interior Lighting System
- HVAC System
- Building Envelope
Reduction in energy consumption is calculated by comparing to ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2001 and must be certified by an independent qualified individual. Energy improvements completed and placed in service between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2013 are eligible for the deduction.
Architects and building designers may be eligible for a federal tax deduction for creating energy efficient designs for federal, state, and local government owned buildings, such as public schools, state university buildings, public libraries, courthouses, student housing and more.
