More than 500 mountains and 1.2 million acres of beautiful landscape have been destroyed in Appalachia as a result of massively destructive mountaintop removal coal mining. Some of this coal comes to New England to fuel power plants that sell electricity to Maine. NRCM invites you to come hear West Virginia activist and historian Chuck Keeney talk about the impacts of mountaintop removal mining, what the people of Appalachia are doing to stop it, and how we can help here in Maine! Thursday, April 5th, Bowdoin College in Brunswick, free and open to the public. Space is limited so please RSVP online. For more information, click here.
