The Era of the Electric Vehicle is Here - a note from Co-Founder Phil Coupe

The new Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid mini-van has an all-electric range of 35 miles.

Gobbling about 26% of all fossil fuel energy consumed, transportation is a tremendous area of opportunity for New Englanders to reduce energy costs and emissions. To help us capitalize on the opportunity, millions of dollars of settlement money, courtesy of the Volkswagen emissions-cheating scandal, will soon be deployed throughout the region to accelerate the build out of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The great news is that we don't have to wait on the purchase of an electric vehicle until the settlement money arrives because every electric vehicle on the market can be easily charged at home or work by simply plugging into a normal wall outlet.

For example, today I picked up my new Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid mini-van, which will give me 35 miles of pure electric range (driving kids to sports practice, grocery shopping, local errands and appointments) and another 530 miles on a gas engine.

Combined, the electric drive and gas-powered engine deliver a blended fuel efficiency of 84 MPGe ( https://www.chrysler.com/pacifica/hybrid.html ). This vehicle will allow me to abandon gasoline for about 80% of the driving that my family does while providing gas back-up for the 20% of longer distance driving in our lifestyle. Finally, a practical plug-in electric hybrid for plus-size families!
