Savings Bank of Walpole – Keene, NH

Savings Bank of Walpole opened a new branch on Court Street in Keene in 2017, with a 15-panel solar array on the rooftop. The new construction building was designed to be well suited for a rooftop solar array by local sustainable builder, Bensonwood.

Each year, the system will generate roughly 5,790 kilowatt-hours (kWhs) of electricity, offsetting the equivalent of over 10,000 miles driven in a gas-powered car.

Other sustainable features of the bank include natural lighting and passive solar gain, with dense-pack cellulose insulation, resulting in a net-zero ready, sustainable structure that will benefit the environment and cut down on operational costs.

By the numbers:

System size: 4.8 kilowatts (15 solar panels)
System output: 5,790 kilowatt-hours/yr
CO₂ reduction: 6,096 pounds/yr
