Keene Housing, in partnership with ReVision Energy, is proud to announce the addition of 281 kW of clean energy on the roofs of five properties in the Monadnock region. The projects at Evergreen Knoll in Swanzey, and Stone Arch Village, and Ash Brook Apartments in Keene will add 702 solar panels to Keenen Housing’s renewable energy portfolio and will generate more than 300,000 kilowatt-hours of solar electricity annually.
Keene Housing worked with ReVision to pursue a creative approach to financing the projects. Grants were secured from the NH Department of Energy’s Low-Income Community Solar program and the NH Community Development Finance Authority’s NAME program. In addition, the project was awarded a Low-Income bonus federal tax credit through a nationally competitive program under the Inflation Reduction Act.
“By investing in solar at our properties, we’re lowering costs, reducing our environmental footprint, and ensuring the people we serve benefit directly from renewable energy. Every dollar saved on electric bills can be reinvested into resident services, property improvements, and the development of new affordable housing. These projects bring us closer to our goal of relying 100% on renewable energy by 2035. Since 2018, Keene Housing has installed over 700 kilowatts of solar on their properties, which each year yield 772,683 kWh of clean electricity, save Keene Housing more than $100,000 in electric costs, and offset approximately 350 tons of carbon pollution. The solar arrays at Evergreen Knoll, Stone Arch Village, and Ash Brook Apartments are expected to save Keene Housing more than $1.8 million over the solar arrays’ life span.
This solar panel project contributes to Keene Housing’s long-term goal of relying 100% on renewable energy by 2035. Keene Housing’s energy efficiency and production strategies align with a Keene City Council resolution that encourages the city and its residents to eventually generate 100% of their electricity from renewable sources.
