We hit 500 EV chargers earlier this summer and are already approaching 600!
On August 22, 2025, our Electric Vehicle (EV) crew at ReVision Energy commissioned the company’s 500th EV charging port, located at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) in Portland’s Old Port. This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to accelerating the transition to an electric future across the Northeast.
With funding support from Efficiency Maine, the Inflation Reduction Act, and GMRI Board Member David Smith, five ChargePoint Level 2 chargers were installed at GMRI and are
now available to the public 24/7. Located in a high-traffic area near hotels, restaurants, and residential buildings, the chargers offer both convenience and opportunity—serving GMRI employees while generating revenue from public use.
Public charging rates are structured to accommodate different usage patterns:
8 a.m. to 8 p.m.: $5 per hour parking fee plus 22 cents per kilowatt-hour
8 p.m. to 8 a.m.: 25 cents per kilowatt-hour with no parking fee
“This was one of the first site visits I ever went on, four years ago,” said Chuck Hayward, EV Infrastructure Designer & Analyst at ReVision Energy. “At the time, there was no funding available, and the project didn’t move forward. Thanks to new funding opportunities, we were able to bring it back to life. GMRI’s location is ideal; not only do they now offer onsite charging for staff, but they’re also supporting the broader EV community in Portland.”
“Coastal electrification and other energy solutions will offer our region environmental, economic, and community benefits,” said Glenn Prickett, CEO/president. “We’re pleased to demonstrate that work on our own property and walk the walk by offering public charging infrastructure here on Commercial Street.”
