Member-Owned Community Solar

Meg-promotes-ReVision-Energy-CSF.jpegTransition to solar without installing panels on your property.

Member-Owned Community Solar expands access to solar energy by eliminating the need to own your home or put solar panels on your roof. At ReVision Energy offers a unique model of community solar which gives you the full benefits of going solar without having to install solar panels on your property. Enjoy all the benefits of solar - no roof needed.

Currently only available in Maine.

How does it work?

  1. For community solar, ReVision Energy builds a large-scale solar project at an ideal solar location, working with the landowner or local organizations to responsibly site the project.

  2. You, as a community solar member-owner, purchase a share of the solar array, custom sized to your home's electric usage.

  3. Renewable energy generated from the solar array feeds into the grid.

  4. Clean solar power is distributed to the member-owners in the form of credits to their electric bill.

Simply put, if the entire project is 1000 kW and you purchase a 10 kW share, then you own 1% of the solar project. That 1% of the kWh produced by the solar farm shows up as credits on your electricity bill.

We currently offer ownership-model solar farms for CMP customers and are filling waitlists for upcoming solar farms.

Benefits of Member-Owned Community Solar:

  • You (the member-owner) receives the full financial benefit of the federal tax credit.

  • You lock in the lowest 25-year cost of power by buying at a fixed price.

  • You receive long-term support and maintenance from a local Maine company (that's us!)

  • You can purchase upfront or finance with a $1,000 down, low-interest loan product.
