Tim was born near Munich and grew up not far from Frankfurt, Germany. After high school he completed a 2.5 years apprenticeship in industrial business administration but then determined that he wanted work that was more meaningful and decided to study environmental engineering at the University of Applied Science in Wiesbaden. While studying environmental engineering, Tim spent two years working for a turnkey project developer of wind, solar and biogas projects in Mainz doing site assessments for wind energy projects. From this work he developed a deeper interest in the energy field leading him to transfer to an energy economics program at the University of Applied Science in Darmstadt. While there, Tim worked for a municipal energy company in the renewable energy department.

To learn more about energy conservation Tim then did his internship with an energy consultancy focusing on residential energy audits. In 2011 he graduated with a B.Sc. having written a thesis on the field of obstructions and incentives for energetic remodeling of residential buildings. After graduation Tim started working as project manager in the IT department of the municipal energy company. There he led the development of a software system for energy monitoring, enabling industrial customers to track their energy usage and identify areas for saving. After completion of the software project Tim became product manager in the ‘energy efficiency and solutions’ department.

In December of 2016 Tim left his position to travel in the US and Canada for almost a year, all the while planning to return to work in the renewable energy sector. While traveling Tim met his partner, Sarah, in Southern New Brunswick and began looking for possible employers in the general vicinity. ReVision Energy stood out to him. By reading bios like this and learning more about ReVision’s value-driven mission, Tim found that it aligned very well with his personal values. Knowing this would be a great match, ReVision Energy eventually became his first and only job application.

Tim enjoys traveling far and wide as is clear from his big trip around North America, but he’s now keeping it local and exploring Maine’s lakes and rivers from the perspective of his paddle board. Tim became a paragliding pilot just briefly before he left Germany. He hasn’t flown in the US so far and is looking forward to begin flying again to get a fully different perspective of Maine; should you be a paraglider or know one, please feel free to contact him or forward Tim’s contact information ([email protected]). He would love to get to know local pilots and fly with them.

About his job as a solar designer with ReVision, Tim loves that he gets to know various areas of Maine and meets many different people who sometimes share parts of their interesting life stories. Doing all this fun stuff, working with amazing colleagues, and helping people save money and reduce CO2 pollution – Tim feels it couldn’t be any better.
