Melanie started with ReVision Energy in 2011 as a summer intern while she was getting her Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technologies from Southern Maine Community College. After working some time for residential and commercial contractors, she wanted more meaningful work and rejoined the ReVision team in 2014 to help battle climate change as a licensed electrician!
Melanie was born and raised in the town of Yarmouth, Maine. After high school, she headed south to Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina where she studied printmaking and encaustic painting as a Fine Arts major. She began her electrical career working on the electric crew in the college’s work program. She also spent much of her time enjoying the Blue Ridge Mountains and played soccer as a student athlete.
She took a quick break to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine before graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and a minor in Environmental Studies.
Upon her return to the pine cone state, she took a semester off before continuing her studies to be an electrician at SMCC. While at college she expanded her skill set by working part-time making cheese in a creamery, landscaping, working at a tomato farm and orchard, and cashiering at Whole Foods. Now Melanie is a licensed journeywoman electrician working at becoming a master.
For fun she enjoys hiking and skiing with her rescued husky and cattle dog, playing soccer, growing veggies, and making things.
Melanie Janarelli's Energy System
With the help of her fellow solar pros, Mel has a 5kw PV array on her barn, where she also stores her 275 gallon tank of biodiesel for her car! Her house is heated solely from wood provided by her arborist partner.
