South Portland Landfill
929 Highland Avenue
South Portland, ME
Join us for a walking tour of the 1 MW solar array at the South Portland Landfill located at 929 Highland Avenue. In 2017 the City installed 2,944 photovoltaic panels on the 34-acre former landfill, which is behind the City’s transfer station and new public services facility.
This is the largest municipal solar project in Maine to date. Portland-based ReVision Energy installed the solar array, which is expected to generate 1.2 million kilowatt-hours of energy per year, roughly 12% of the electricity used by South Portland’s municipal and school buildings.
Come see the panels up close and learn more about how clean energy works! For more information please contact Jill at [email protected] or 207.221.6342
