Join us this New Year at the multi-award winning Children’s Museum in downtown Dover, NH. This renovated historic armory was transformed into the one and only state-of-the-art LEED Silver museums in New Hampshire and just received The Best of New Hampshire 2012 Building NH Award for revitalization. The museum’s Executive Director, Justine Roberts, will present an overview of the museums journey from initial planning to a working, public educational facility showcasing living exhibits about sustainable design that educates, informs and inspires. We’ll complete the morning with a tour and Q&A led by the architects from ARQ. On the tour you’ll learn more about the features that positively impact the project and the community including:
- Rehabilitation and re-use of a historic building in the city center of Dover
- Rainwater harvested for irrigation of restored native plantings
- High-performance windows and enhanced building insulation
- High-efficiency HVAC equipment with energy recovery
- Low-flow and water-efficient plumbing fixtures
- Non-toxic, low VOC finishes, and materials with high recycled content
