climate-to-thrive-imageA Climate to Thrive is a project started by members of the Mount Desert Island community that want to seeing both the land and the communities on this island thrive long into the future. They are committed to efforts that will build MDI’s local economy, benefitting all MDI residents, while also making this island a leader in practices and policies that reduce their carbon footprint. The project is grounded in the belief that moving the island towards energy independence and other practices that are called for in this time of climate change will also benefit the land and the people of MDI significantly when it comes to health, strength of community and economic well-being. Through projects such as creating their own energy, growing their own food, managing their waste sustainably and providing good alternatives for public transportation, they will create jobs, preserve the beauty of this island and be a resource and leader for communities around the world.

Be part of the conversation, the action and the solution! Join us for our big launch event on Sunday, January 24 from 3:00-6:00pm at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor. This event will include a keynote speeches by Venu Rao and ReVision’s very own Steve Hinchman will be leading a breakout group.
