The North Conway Community Center converted to LED lighting in the fall of 2018. The retrofit will offset their electrical usage by nearly 40%, and with their solar installation in the upcoming year they will see an enormous reduction in their electrical expenses.
The tightly-constructed NCCC facility was built three years ago with great attention to its natural surroundings. The result is a building that looks like it has "always been there."
A two-person team of ReVision Energy LED installers completed the retrofit of the NCCC gymnasium lights by lunchtime, while the rest of the team worked in various rooms and offices. Executive Director Tim Scott was as impressed with the end result as he was the efficiency of the crew. "The new LEDs are just remarkable. Already people are commenting on it and I know it's going to be better in the summertime when we don't have heat generated from all those lights, too."
Tim described another particular advantage of converting a gymnasium to LED lighting, "We used to have to rent a scissor-lift every time we needed to change the old gym lights, and that included the times that somebody hit them with a basketball and a bulb went out. At least 2-3 times a year we'd spend 150 dollars to go up in the air, which no one likes to do! So this is going to be much better."
ReVision's LED installation crew is second-to-none in efficient, quality lighting installation. Tim was struck by the team's meticulous efforts, "The crew was great, and there wasn't a piece of wrapping that was left behind. It was just, 'Oh, they're here, they're gone! Poof!'"
The LED project for NCCC will reduce their electric load by over 20,000 kWh annually, roughly the same amount of power generated by an 18 kilowatt solar array. The LED lights are estimated to last over 100,000 burning hours before any maintenance. NCCC's projected savings with the LED investment is nearly $100,000 over the 20-year life expectancy of the system, with a simple payback in under 5 years.
