The first annual ReVision Climate Challenge invites students in grades 3-8 to submit an activity page that teaches kids about solutions to help our planet’s changing climate for the chance to win $500 for them and $500 for their class.

Ten finalists will be chosen for their passion for our planet, spirit of creativity and play, and effective activity, and one lucky kid will win the Grand Prize!

Activity Page Challenge Overview

Hi kids! We want you to design a fun page for our next activity book. Your page can be anything from a maze, to a crossword puzzle, word search, or even a craft. You could write a song, a poem, create finger puppets, a board game, or even design stickers.

Your only parameters are:

  • Your page must be a fun activity for kids.
  • Your page educates kids about a solution or solutions to our planet’s climate crisis.

Topic ideas:

What can we stop doing to slow down climate disruption?

How can we help animals who are affected by climate disruption?

What can we start doing to help prevent the climate crisis?

Who can we work with or support to help prevent the climate crisis?

How can we reduce our carbon footprint?

What can we do to protect our animals from dirty oceans or shrinking forests?

How can we stop filling up landfills?

How do we decrease plastic in our oceans?

What can be done to make it easier for people to recycle?

What products actually help reverse the climate crisis?

What can we use instead of fossil fuels?

Who is being affected the most by climate disruption? How can we help them?

May 1, 2020 challenge closes and finalist selection begins

ReVision Energy “2020 Activity Page Challenge” Official Rules 

BEFORE YOU MAY ENTER, YOUR PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST SUBMIT A CONSENT FORM. 

ELIGIBILITY:

The ReVision Energy “2020 Activity Page Challenge” is open to students who are at least 8 years of age and no more than 14 years of age as of January 1, 2020.

CONTEST TIMING:

Entry Submission Period: The Entry Submission Period commences at 8:00 AM Eastern Time on February 1, 2020 and expires at 8:00 PM ET on May 1, 2020 . 

Judging: On May 2, 2020, all eligible entries will be judged by the designated judges in accordance with the judging criteria set forth below, to determine 10 finalists. 

Public Voting Period: Beginning at 5:00 PM ET on May 9, 2020 and ending 5:00 PM ET on May 21, 2020 (the “Public Voting Period”), the general public worldwide will have the opportunity to vote to determine which finalist will receive the Grand Prize. 

The Grand Prize winner will be announced on May 22, 2020.

BRIEF CONTEST DESCRIPTION:

Eligible students shall have the opportunity to create a page for an activity book. Limit one entry per student. 10 students will be deemed finalists and will compete for the Grand Prize via a Public Vote.

TO REGISTER AND ENTER:

Starting at 8:00 AM ET on February 1, 2020, an eligible student’s parent/legal guardian must complete the online Parental Consent Form. Completed Activity Pages should be submitted as a hi-res PDF or JPG file via the submission form linked on the 2020 Activity Page Challenge webpage.

THE CHALLENGE:

ADDITIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Do not include any branded products, trademarks or logos in the Activity Page, other than those of ReVision Energy.

WINNER DETERMINATION:

Round 1: All entries will first be screened to ensure they meet the entry criteria. A panel of judges will then select 10 finalist Activity Pages. Activity Pages will be assessed using the following judging criteria: 

(i) Scientific knowledge
(ii) Creativity
(iii) Effectiveness 

Round 2: The greater community will then vote for the winner out of the 10 finalists during the Public Voting Period. Members of the public will be invited to visit the Website to vote on the finalists’ Activity Pages.

PRIZES:

Students will be contacted via phone and/or email on May 9th if they are selected as a finalist. Grand prize of $500.00 cash awarded to one finalist, with another $500.00 awarded to their class. 

RESTRICTIONS, RIGHTS AND RELEASE:

All taxes on prizes and all expenses related to acceptance and use of the prize not specified are the sole responsibility of the applicable prize recipients (and/or their parent(s)/legal guardian(s) if prize recipient is a minor).

Entry FAQs

How do students enter?

To enter, students need to submit an activity page in which they teach kids about solutions or a solution to help our planet’s changing climate.

Is the competition open to anyone?

The competition is open to residents in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts who are students enrolled in 3rd through 8th grade at a public, private, parochial, or home school.

Why do parents have to grant permission for students to enter?

In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, Parental/guardian consent is needed for any person under the age of 13 years to give personal information to a third party over the internet. In the case of our competition, each student’s parent/guardian needs to grant consent for us to receive their entry.

Can students enter as pairs or teams?

Students may not submit as pairs or in groups – only individual submissions will be accepted.

How do students submit an activity?

Once a student’s parent/guardian has completed the consent form and registration page the student will see the entry form. Students should submit an activity page as a PDF or JPG by May 1st at 8:00pm ET. Before uploading your activity page, be sure it meets the following criteria:

  1. Your activity only contains your original ideas and work.
  2. Your activity page does not have copyrighted or trademarked content.
  3. Please make sure the title of your activity page is “ReVision Challenge Submission – [Your Title]“.
  4. Your activity page is size 8.5” x 5.5”

Can submitted activity pages be updated?

No. Once an activity page is uploaded they cannot be changed.

Prizing FAQs

What are the student prizes?

At the end of the competition, the Grand Prize Winner will be awarded $500 for themselves and $500 for their grade’s science curriculum.
